As the L&OD Manager you would work at the heart of our organisation playing an integral part in supporting us to build and maintain the organisational capability to enable the NHSBSA to continue to be a catalyst for better health.  As a team we work in partnership with colleagues from across the organisation to align strategy, culture and processes to bring about organisational effectiveness, whole system change and deliver our strategy. 

The role is based in the North East, currently working in a hybrid way, with a mixture of home and office working, therefore, we welcome applications from candidates who can work flexibly.

The Role:

The role is a key part of the Learning and Organisation Development team which is specialist function within the People Team led by the Executive Director for Corporate Services. The People Team is also made up of Corporate HR and Wellbeing and Inclusion.

The L&OD team is made up of Learning and OD specialists and we work cross-functionally with our colleagues in the People Team and our wider business stakeholders to ensure our offer is fit for purpose.

Reporting to the Head of Learning and Organisation Development, the L&OD Manager leads the corporate learning and development agenda for our leaders and all 3,500 colleagues. They are responsible for co-creating the learning strategy ensuring it is flexible in a complex and ever changing system, enables organisational effectiveness and builds organisational capability

The role also leads and effectively manages a small and talented hybrid-working team of L&OD professionals who design, deliver and curate blended learning and development solutions to internally drive the strategic learning and development agenda for the organisation.

The L&OD team is currently working on a working on a number of strategic objectives including:

  • Designing an effective organisation by taking a whole system view
  • Developing leaders that share a common goal, inspire our people and ensure our organisation is successful
  • Developing our colleagues and culture so that we focus on what matters from the get-go
  • Attracting, recruiting, developing and retaining the right people with the right capability
  • Creating meaningful succession plans by developing our colleagues to enhance their talents and progress through the organisation
  • Supporting the Our Way Ahead Programme to ensure we have an organisation that thrives and embraces changes to the way we work as a result of the Covid

 

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate, qualified and experienced Learning and Organisation Development professional who has a demonstrable solid track record of working and/or can demonstrate capability of working in a large and complex organisation.

A strong leader, the successful candidate will be comfortable in working in diverse and politically sensitive environments and have a very strong sense of self and how this can impact the outcomes of an intervention. They will be pragmatic, consultative, strategic and be comfortable in holding clients to account whilst building lasting professional relationships and progressing the People Team's strategic objectives.
