The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) is the main processing facility and centre of excellence for payment, reimbursement, remuneration and reconciliation for NHS Dental Practitioners, Pharmacists, NHS Pensions and other affiliated parties.

The NHS Business Services Authority is the main processing facility and centre of payment, reimbursement, remuneration and reconciliation for NHS dental practitioners, pharmacists, NHS pensioners and other affiliated parties.

An opportunity has arisen in NHS Prescriptions Services within the NHS BSA for a Specialist Pharmacist. The post holder will work closely within a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and team members who are responsible for the provision of information used to support the Department of Health Remuneration and Reimbursement Policy as published in the monthly NHS England and Wales Drug Tariff.

Using your pharmaceutical knowledge, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of professional support to NHS Prescription Services liaising with other managers as necessary to ensure that the outputs meet the needs of the NHS BSA. Main areas of responsibility include the appropriate maintenance of NHS Prescription Services’ systems, processes and products including contributing to Part IX of the NHS England and Wales Drug Tariff, the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (NHS dm+d) and organisation and prescriber data. To support the NHSBSA work on NHS reimbursement and remuneration health policy and to influence customers and clients who interface with NHS Prescription Services The post holder will be expected to make a positive contribution to the development, management and performance of the NHS BSA and the achievement of the business aim, objectives set and Key Performance Indicators.

You must be a highly motivated, able to deal with sensitive and confidential data. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with close attention to detail. The ability to analyse and interpret information, and provide recommendations is a requirement. You will be pro-active in identifying and implementing more efficient and effective methods of working. The ability to prioritise own workload, using own initiative and work independently as well as within a team is important.

You should be qualified with a Vocational Master’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent. You have to be able to demonstrate significant experience of pharmacy practice in NHS primary or secondary care.
