As a part of our team, you will focus on developing analysis and reporting capabilities as well as ensuring support for growth and development of MI Team members through coaching and mentoring. You will also monitor performance, KPI's, and data quality.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Team by analysing business requirements, understand and implement required changes to data processing, prototype dashboards with visualisations, conduct testing, and documentation. Main duties include:

  • Analysing, investigating, and resolving complex queries to identify data trends and quality issues, developing recommendations to improve data quality.
  • Innovating improvements in reporting, including automation, data analysis, insight, and core/flexible data presentation to meet customer needs.
  • Working with relevant stakeholders when implementing system changes to ensure data sources are effectively mapped to enable the production of client, performance, and user reports, and to ensure the required data quality standards for accurate and timely reporting are understood by users to improve confidence and reporting reputation.
  • Sharing information with IT managers, information governance and data governance to identify system errors, breaches of information security or confidentiality, and determine other causes of data issues, and recommending improvements to data
  • Supporting the development of effective web-deployed business intelligence and data visualization products for the benefit of internal and external
  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, complex data analysis and data quality issues with staff within and outside of the NHSBSA in relation to the provision of a wide range of MI and Insight.

  • Developing an in-depth understanding of the HR Shared Service, client SLAs and agreed performance indicators including existing reporting provision as a baseline from which to develop an improved suite of MI using the reporting capability of all HR systems providing source data.
  • Innovating improvements in reporting, including automation, data analysis, insight and core/flexible data presentation to meet customer needs.
  • Making available, integrating, and optimising structured and/or unstructured data using a range of database products, technologies, and
  • Providing advice and support in refining and transforming data by focusing on forecasting, performance trends and building data correlation to provide reports from which essential insights can be drawn to inform better business decision-making.
  • Analysing, investigating and resolving complex queries to identify data trends and quality issues, developing recommendations and plans for users and processes to improve data quality.
  • Identifying and supporting data analytics initiatives, developing the skills necessary to contribute to data discovery and new insight with consideration and complexities of current and new HR systems, current systems include: ESR; DTS, TRAC, CMS, EMS, NHS Jobs and Work Manager.
  • Working with relevant stakeholders when planning for and implementing system changes to ensure that data sources are effectively mapped into the requirements to enable the production of client, performance and user reports, and to ensure the required data quality standards for accurate and timely reporting are understood by users to improve confidence and reporting reputation.
  • Providing and receiving highly confidential personal sensitive data ensuring that the implications for sharing and working with this data is understood by users before permitting Contributing to creating and updating procedures for data access, identifying and implementing improvements, ensuring data security and integrity at all times.

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate HND or NVQ level 4 in a subject with a substantial numerate content; or equivalent level of acquired knowledge/experience
  • Statistics / IT / Computer Science / Mathematics / data science, machine learning, business intelligence, data visualization, data processing for analytics, data warehousing, or ETL
Desirable criteria
  • SQL Database qualifications
  • Data Visualisation qualifications
