An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Lead Developer to support the activities required in the BSA’s journey to become a multi-sourcing digital business.

The NHS BSA Technology Solutions team develop, support and operate systems in support of NHS BSA operations. Business critical and internet deployed digital applications are provided to support NHS BSA business streams. These systems currently support 2,700 internal users and 4,000+ external users.

The NHS BSA’s Application infrastructure currently utilises an Oracle and Java based strategy for the majority of the operational platforms. In line with the Government Digital Strategy and the NHS BSA’s business strategy a major programme of digitisation has been initiated. To support this, the Technology Solutions team is modernising the function in line with changing business demands, including the delivery of business solutions using Agile methodologies, therefore requiring individuals who are self-directing with a proven track record of delivering quality, accountable for the design, development, testing, implementation and supporting and on-going improvement of systems/ services allocated to them under the project plans and/ or Service Area.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Lead Java developer with experience in advanced Java technologies including Spring Boot, Hibernate, JavaEE, Queue mechanisms, REST/SOAP API and Reporting Frameworks.

The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with effective communication skill on a range of complex IT issues, a strong customer service ethos and complex problem solving ability.

The successful candidate must have a strong track record of building and running high volume, enterprise standard, reliable and flexible services that are relentlessly user-focused and continually improved through iterative development via an agile development lifecycle.
