The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) is the main processing facility and centre of excellence for payment, reimbursement, remuneration and reconciliation for NHS Dental Practitioners, Pharmacists, NHS Pensions and other affiliated parties.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in NHS Prescriptions Services within the NHSBSA for a Specialist Pharmacist. The post holder will work closely with a team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Data Analysts who are responsible for the provision of information used to support the Department of Health and Social Care Policies and the authoring and publication of the NHS dictionary of medicines and devices (dm+d) which is used widely across the NHS and Integrated Care Services.
The NHSBSA has recently acquired the responsibility for authoring secondary care specialist medicines and medical devices on dm+d to complement already existing primary care authoring. We are seeking an enthusiastic Specialist Pharmacist, ideally with experience of working in the secondary care sector, to provide expertise in the authoring of newly licensed and unlicensed medicines, and medical devices that have a secondary care focus. You will use your already well-developed skills and pharmaceutical knowledge to research and investigate new products, and determine how these should be represented in the NHS dm+d.
This post will be an exciting challenge for someone who is highly motivated and keen to extend their specialist skills and we are willing to consider flexible ways of working across organisations in order to attract the right candidate. You will also be responsible for the provision of professional support to NHS Prescription Services liaising with other managers and pharmacists as necessary to ensure that the outputs meet the needs of the NHS BSA, our customers and stakeholders.
The post holder will be expected to make a positive contribution to the development, management and performance of the NHS BSA and the achievement of the strategic aims, business objectives and Key Performance Indicators. You must be able to deal with highly sensitive and confidential data and will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with close attention to detail. The ability to analyse and interpret information, and provide recommendations is a requirement. The ability to prioritise own workload, using own initiative and work independently as well as within a team is important. You should be qualified with a Vocational Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be able to demonstrate significant experience of pharmacy practice in NHS primary or secondary care. In return we are able to offer favourable working hours and a competitive salary, and you will be working in a stimulating and supportive role which offers a wide variety of challenges.
The post is advertised at Band 7 however a Band 8a role may be available to suitably qualified and experienced candidates. Of the two Pharmacist posts currently advertised only one post will be filled.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
